Wujyachü Metropolitan County is administered by the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC). It was created on September 17, 2002 from the 102nd brigade in Miquan Metropolitan County, the remainder of which became Midong District of the Ürümqi metropolitan area, and the 101st and 103rd brigades in Sanji Metropolitan County of Sanji Hui Autonomous Region. The 2000 Census population of the area is 68 433.
Wujyachü, the 102nd brigade of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, has an area of 5.2 km² and an estimated population of 35 000.
Bingtuan Yilingyituan (兵团101团 ), the 101st brigade of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, has an area of 4.0 km² and an estimated population of 14 000.
Bingtuan Yilingsantuan (兵团103团 ), the 103rd brigade of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, has an area of 1.4 km² and an estimated population of 6 000.
