Image: Mohenjo-daro in Warah taluka of Qambar Shahdatkot District, a city of the Indus Valley Civilization, was occupied between 2600 and 1700 BC. It is the oldest known city in the Indian subcontinent. Its most famous excavation was carried out in 1945 by the archaeologists Ahmad Hasan Dani and Mortimer Wheeler.

Larkana statistical division contains the districts of Jacobabad, Kashmor, Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, and Shikarpur. Its area is 15 213 km² and its population is 4 233 076.
Jacobabad District (جیکب آباد Jekabaabaad) 2 698 km², population 741 910: three talukas (Garhi Khairo 733 km², population 117 207, Jacobabad 664 km², population 267 998, Thul 1 301 km², population 356 705). Jacobabad (138 780) has an area of 5.2 km² and an estimated population of 80 000.
Kashmore District (کشمور Kashmor) 2 580 km², population 683 662: two talukas (Kandhkot 1 277 km², population 393 501, Kashmore 1 303 km², population 290 161). Split from Jacobabad district sometime between 1998 and 2002. Kashmore (28 548) has an area of 1.6 km² and an estimated population of 19 000. Kandhkot (67 566) has an area of 3.0 km² and an estimated population of 40 000. Khewali has an area of 2.7 km² and an estimated population of 12 000. Ghauspur (25 081) in Kandhkot taluka has an area of 1.2 km² and an estimated population of 12 000.
Larkana District (لاڑکانہ Laaṛkaana): 1 948 km², population 1 002 722: three talukas (Dokri 837 km², population 308 975, Larkana 549 km², population 466 424, Ratodero 562 km², population 227 323). Larkana (270 283) has an area of 14.5 km² and an estimated population of 300 000. Ratodero (40 217) has an area of 1.9 km² and an estimated population of 20 000. Naudero (28 150) in Ratodero taluka has an area of 1.0 km² and an estimated population of 10 000. Badrah (33 205) in Dokri taluka has an area of 1.2 km² and an estimated population of 12 000.
Qambar Shahdadkot District: 5 475 km², population 924 294: four talukas (Qambar Ali Khan 2 260 km², population 268 934, Miro Khan 752 km², population 181 808, Shahdadkot 1 461 km², population 190 325, Warah 1 002 km², population 283 227). Split from Larkana District in 2005.
Shahdadkot (60 436) has an area of 3.3 km² and an estimated population of 40 000. Qambar Ali Khan (58 369) has an area of 3.1 km² and an estimated population of 40 000. Miro Khan (8 891) has an area of 1.0 km² and an estimated population of 10 000. Nasirabad (ناصر آباد Nasiraabaad, 23 477) in Warah taluka has an area of 1.0 km² and an estimated population of 10 000.
Shikarpur District: 2 512 km², population 880 438: four talukas (Garhi Yasin 971 km², population 227 966, Khanpur 629 km², population 191 681, Lakhi 351 km², population 188 298, Shikarpur 561 km², population 272 493). Shikarpur (134 883) has an area of 6.7 km² and an estimated population of 100 000.
