Uzbekistan (UZ) Toshkent City and Province

Summary

Toshkent is a major city with a population of 3 000 000. The cities of Chirchiq (200 000), Olmaliq (150 000), Angren (120 000), Bekobod (100 000), and Yangiyo’l (100 000) and the major towns of Keles (70 000), O’rtaovul (70 000), G’azalkent/Iskandar (60 000), Parkent (45 000), Chinoz (40 000), Ohangaran (35 000), Piskent (35 000), Yangibazar (30 000), Qibray (28 000), and Bo’ka (22 000) are also in the province.

Toshkent Province (Toshkent Viloyati) has an area of 15 300 km² and a population of about 2.6 million (2004 estimate). It surrounds the city of Toshkent, which has an area of 300 km² and a population of about 3.0 million (2004 estimate). Toshkent city is divided into 11 districts: Akmal Ikromov, Bektemir, Chilonzor, Hamza, Mirobod, Mirzo Ulug’bek, Sergeli, Shayxontohur, Sobir Rahimov, Yakkasaroy, and Yunusobod.
